Single Page Scrapbook Layout

Single page scrapbook layouts need to make careful use of all available space.

  1. Cut a sheet of patterned paper with a subtle print so it measures 12 inches by 4 inches. Glue the paper to the middle of your cardstock background.
  2. Glue your invitation to the middle of the paper.
  3. Add journaling to the left of the invitation.
  4. Crop two of your favorite bridal shower photos so they measure 2 inches by 2 1/2 inches.
  5. Glue the photos to the lower left hand corner of the paper. The second photo should slightly overlap your bridal shower invitation.
  6. Add large flower embellishments in your wedding colors to the upper left and lower right corners of the page. The flowers should slightly overlap the area that contains your invitation.
  7. Add scalloped borders to the bottom and right hand sides of the paper.
  8. Add a title to the right of the flower in the upper left corner of the page.

If your bridal shower has a theme, try to choose a title that reinforces the theme. For example, "Pampered and Pretty" would be a good title for a spa-themed bridal shower and "Sweets for the Sweet" would be a good title for a candy-themed bridal shower. If desired, you can swap out the flower embellishments in this layout example for accents that reinforce your theme, such as tiny flip flop stickers for a spa-themed bridal shower.

Double Page Scrapbook Layout

If you're a double page scrapbooker, you'll have a little more room to work with when creating your layout.

  1. On the first page of your layout, glue your bridal shower invitation in the upper right hand corner of the paper. If your invitation is small you can mat it on a sheet of patterned paper.
  2. Use stickers or rub-on letters to make a title for the upper left hand side of the page that slightly overlaps the area with your invitation. "Showered With Love" would be a good page title.
  3. Write the names of the people who attended your bridal shower in the space on the lower left hand side of the page.
  4. Choose six photos that showcase special parts of your bridal shower. Try to look for pictures that include people as well as any memorable decorations. Crop these photos so they measure 3 1/2 inches square.
  5. Arrange the photos in a grid along the bottom of the second page of your layout. You should have three photos on each row.
  6. Add journaling to the top of the page. Be careful not to duplicate information that is already shown in your invitation.
  7. Add a tiny heart embellishment on each side of your journaling. Use hearts cut from paper that matches your wedding colors.

Many brides receive cards and letters from friends and family at their bridal shower. If you want to preserve these items in your scrapbook, trying making a layout with a pocket.

  1. Trim a sheet of cardstock so it measures 10 inches square.
  2. Apply adhesive to the back of the bottom, left, and right sides of the cardstock. Adhere it to a sheet of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper. This creates a pocket that you can use to store cards and letters.
  3. Your invitation and any journaling you wish to include can be added to the front of the pocket.

A Note About Archival Safety

Paper and embellishments made for scrapbooking are acid free so they won't damage photos over time. Your bridal shower invitation may not be made from paper that is acid free. If you aren't sure what type of paper was used to create your bridal shower invitation, spray it with a protective product such as Krylon Make It Acid Free spray. This product can also be used on photos to keep them protected as well. This will help ensure that your scrapbook is still in perfect condition when it's time to celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary!
